Gaining Temporary Independence With Rental Stairlifts

For most of us, climbing up and down our stairs is something we give very little – if any – thought to on a daily basis. But for those who are physically challenged in some way, climbing the stairs can be an obstacle that is either difficult or completely impossible. For those who struggle in this way, the stairlift has become a necessary tool in order to manage stairs in the home and beyond. And while most choose to purchase such stairlifts as a permanent fixture in their homes, there is the availability of rental stairlifts for those who only need the technology on a temporary basis.

Stairlifts – utilizing battery or electric technology – offer those who are physically challenged a "lift" up and down the stairs. An accessible seat is mounted to a wall track that is installed along the stairs. With a touch of a button, users move themselves along the wall track, giving them mobility where none existed before. While some enjoy the durability of electric stairlifts – removing the necessity of charging or purchasing new batteries – others prefer the battery operated stairlifts to remove the possibility of the stairlift losing power in an electrical outage. In either case, this technology can be installed in the home through reputable companies who can bring the equipment to you and instruct you on its operation.

But while many know that such technology can be purchased, few realize that it can also be rented. Rental stairlifts are available for those who find themselves in a temporary place of physical challenge. For instance, for those who have had an injury – that leaves them physically unable to manage the stairs but from which they will eventually recover – rental stairlifts offer the perfect temporary tool during recovery.

Additionally, for those who have chosen to care for an elder relative and find that they need to put temporary technology in place in order to help them do this, rental stairlifts can mean the difference between a challenging situation and greater independence for their loved one.

Rental stairlifts are available through the companies that also sell them. Just as when you purchase stairlifts, the company will come in, take measurements, and install the equipment that you feel works best for your situation. They will then instruct you on its use. Further, the company will be your contact should you have any questions or repairs. You will often pay an installation fee and a monthly rental fee for use of the stairlift. Finally, when you are done using rental stairlifts, the company will come back to your home and remove the system.

Rental stairlifts can mean a greater feeling of independence for those who are struggling with managing stairs; a lifesaver during a temporary situation.
